Video Review: D.R.A.M. & Lil’ Yachty “Broccoli”

Some broccoli floats in muddy water. A woman shakes her butt while in the water. Another woman, also in the water, shakes her hips and twirls her hair. With one hand, D.R.A.M. plays a white piano as Lil’ Yachty stands on top of it.

A screen is into three, showing a still photo of Lil’ Yachty. The center photo covers his face over the same enlarged still. Another still is shown of people at the party, hanging out by a couch, drinking.

Lil’ Yachty sits on the couch with two women beside him.

The screen splits into three again, showing a still photo of Lil’ Yachty sitting on the piano while in the center, he dances on it, in motion. It then switches to the same still.

Hitched to a pick-up (maybe), Lil’ Yachty and D.R.A.M. sit on the side of a vehicle, the piano accompanying them.

D.R.A.M. and Lil’ Yachty dance in the mud with the women.

The screen is split into three again, as a still photo is shown of Lil’ Yachty resting his head on a women’s chest.

Back on the grass, D.R.A.M. walks a dog on a leash.

A split screen is shown of the same women’s butt four times as it’s paused. In the grass, more women shake their butts. In the center, a still photo of D.R.A.M. pops out. While in another photo still, they stand close to another woman.

D.R.A.M. shows off the happy dog.

The screen splits into two of D.R.A.M. wearing a broccoli headpiece with Lil’ Yachty in motion in the center.

On the piano, a woman shakes her butt. While at the piano, Lil’ Yachty glares. They continue to ride in the pick-up truck,  passing through the city.

D.R.A.M. hangs out in the corner of a party. A still photo is shown of two women sitting together.

While in the muddy water, a still photo is shown of D.R.A.M. holding broccoli. On the pick-up truck, Lil’ Yachty plays the recorder. On the grass, D.R.A.M. holds the puppy.

Back in the muddy water, the two women are shaking their butts on the piano. D.R.A.M. slaps one of the women’s butts.

Lots of women shaking their butts at the party. While in the water, D.R.A.M. rubs against one woman’s butt. The puppy walks on the grass. Still photos of the puppy and D.R.A.M. are shown. Back in the water, the puppy runs as everyone dances.

Lil’ Yachty and D.R.A.M. continue to hang out at the party. D.R.A.M. slaps another woman’s butt and waves broccoli around.

The screen is split into three again which shows Lil’ Yachty playing the recorder.

In another split screen, Lil’ Yachty is wearing a broccoli headpiece while in the center, D.R.A.M. also wears one and shakes the broccoli like maracas.

Still riding on the pick-up truck, Lil’ Yachty wears oversized glasses and pretends to be Stevie Wonder. Everyone dances in the muddy water at the piano.

Rating: 0/5

Cream of broccoli soup, steamed broccoli, grilled broccoli and arugula salad — none of it is appetizing after seeing the food float in the rusty water. It will kill the craving before any recipes can be searched.

The video wants to be cheesy  with the cute puppy and the pick-up truck ride with piano where Lil’ Yachty pulls out his recorder from elementary school and plays. Otherwise, it’s dated with the still photos. It makes seem like an 80s film reel warning people about the dangers of drugs and what not to do at a party.  Captioning them or pretending that they were SnapChat stories would’ve made it modern.

The cheesiness would’ve had a chance if the cliché of the women shaking their butts at the camera were cut and if the action at the party had been amped up (broccoli people, maybe?). It would’ve maintained the weirdness throughout. As a result, it seems okay on the surface but there is something really off about it.
