Dua Lipa walks down a city street, wearing a green striped crop top. She turns the corner, passing a twentysomething man tapping his cell phone. In a parking lot, she kicks up her leg and three people join her in a routine. They stop in the street and continue to dance.
She stops at a Jeep in a parking lot and gets lifted into the air. She lands on the rooftop, tripping some as she gains her balance again. Miguel is on the other side, walking. They criss cross each other. She stands on the ledge and flies in the air as Miguel sings on the rooftop. Miguel soars into the sky.
In the midnight sky, they fly in the air and land in sparsely lit parking lot. People on the street dance with them and snap their fingers. She gets lifted into the sky again.
She and Miguel walk towards one another on a ledge, overlooking a four large columns, lit in lavender. Each light goes out one by one as they get closer to one another. The columns light up in lavender as she stands on the ledge. She spreads her arms and falls backwards. She hovers over a square filled with clouds.
Back on the ground, she dances in the parking lot with the dancers as Miguel leans on a car. He steps in, snapping his wrist. She and Miguel exchange glances and then leave in opposite directions.
The mundane details of everyday life are observed at first while Dua Lipa walks down a city street. A man looks at his cell phone, oblivious to anyone around him, a young woman checks out the hood of the car and another woman steps the between the two in the parking lot, without noticing them.
It seems to be a making a point about people avoiding each other and not wanting any true contact with one another. Lipa’s flying emphasizes it, leaving before anyone can get close to her. She and Miguel don’t ever meet and stand together only once.
The lighting does obscure the action. Once it becomes nighttime, the details are sacrificed for a gorgeous shot of lavender lit columns as Miguel and Lipa are viewed in silhouette. It dabbles in surrealism as she hovers over a box of clouds but doesn’t provide an explanation other than it was an idea inserted in without any context. The footing is lost though, after the box of clouds. The minutiae and ordinary gets overtaken by a dance routine.
