Video Review: Seal "Kiss From A Rose (Version 2)"

Around midnight, Batman rides his Batmobile through Gotham City. The Bat signal forms in the sky, from the clip.

Lit in Parisian blue, Seal sings underneath the Bat signal.

From the clip, Bruce Wayne (Val Kilmer) puts some money in his pocket as he walks down a spacious hallway. However, a suspicious noise causes him to pause.

Dr. Chase Meridian (Nicole Kidman), her red hair blowing from the wind, watches Batman from above. The Riddler (Jim Carrey) moves his mind control device over his eyes and smirks. Batman stands by the Batmobile and swings from the buildings in Gotham. A bat flaps its wings.

At a business party, Edward Nygma (Carrey) pulls Chase’s hand and dances with her. He pauses by Bruce Wayne to give him a smug look. Batman flies into Two-Face’s  lair, where men shoot at him. Chase and Bruce Wayne kiss. Batman breaks The Riddler’s mind control device hanging from the ceiling. Robin (Chris O’Donnell) stares into the distance while Batman stands next to him. Chase presses on Batman’s suit. Through the church window, the Bat signal can be seen. The Riddler’s neon green question mark glows in the sky. Chase and Bruce go on a date. Robin hangs his head. Dick Grayson (O’Donnell) kisses a young woman.

Two-Face (Tommy Lee Jones) shakes his arms, excited that his scheme worked. An explosion occurs. Behind the Bat signal, Batman and Robin run together.

Underneath the Bat signal, Seal reaches out his hand.

Rating: 3.5/5

Bruce Wayne, one of the richest men in Gotham, wants to give back to the citizens of the city. Along the way, he falls for a doe-eyed Dr. Chase Meridian, who pursued him at every opportunity. However, she prefers his alter-ego Batman. A handsome Robin (Chris O’Donnell) finds a mentor in Batman. Rival Edward Nygma attempts to steal her away. Meanwhile, as his alter-ego The Riddler, he plans to get revenge on Batman. There’s another villain, Two-Face who seems to be an introductory character without much backstory.

Gotham, through Joel Schumacher’s lens, is an upper-middle class metropolitan area with young entrepreneurs obtaining their wealth at a quick rate. Women throw themselves at Bruce Wayne, noting his stature and want to be the one to carry his child.

It’s Seal, though, underneath the Bat signal, who calls for the end of corruption. As one of the few minorities in the city, he wants to help Gotham to become better. The violence between the businessman has been disrupting their state’s economy and causing people to leave. However, he knows after Batman catches The Riddler, the status quo will return back to the society parties than the crime happening within smaller, less populated areas of the city.
