Patty walks past a piano in a rehearsal room in a skyscraper. She glances at Zack and Tommy who play their instruments. She leans against the wall and looks out the half-moon shaped window.
She sits by a column and looks at another window in the middle of the room. She leans against the column and dances near the her microphone. She wanders around the room and then looks out the window again.
Somewhere, he is walking in the city with his girlfriend, picking out furniture for their home. and kissing her on the cheek between stores. Every day Patty Smyth braces herself for the news of his impending marriage. He’s begun to miss her practices. Her voice was what he looked forward to after a monotonous week.
They belonged together. He seemed to doubt it, though. There was no getting through him. A simple touch from her caused him to flinch and back off. The feelings were still there between them. The heartbreak from their past had broken him several times. He loved his girlfriend, he kept saying over and over. The love could cause little damage to him.
She continues to wait for him. Time may swing in her favor someday, Losing him has already happened. A small sliver of hope keeps her hanging on.
