Video Review: Ellie Goulding, Diplo & Swa Lee “Close To Me”

Ellie Goulding, wearing a hunter green gown, stands on the balcony of the Buda Castle.

Holding onto to her hat, she dances around Fisherman’s Bastion.

Male dancers straighten their suits as they walk with on the grounds of the Várkert Bazaar.

Swa Lee jumps in an immaculate green garden and dances.

She lies on the floor of the Gellert Baths and Spa. She views the cherub statues and sits on the couch. On the steps of the Vaerkert Bazaar, she holds the ends of her fuchsia dress and hugs one of the male dancers. The male dancers pull them away from one another.

She touches her lover’s shoulder as he faces the wall.

She continues to dance on the Fisherman’s Bastion.

Ellie Goulding rubs her knee as she lies in the sitting pool. Her knee clicks as she stands up and towels herself off. In the changing room, she talks with a fiftysomething woman. They compare illnesses. Goulding says the treatments have really been helping her. The fiftysomething woman comments on her being too young to deal with joint pain. She explains it’s injuries from being athletic over the years. The fiftysomething woman says goodbye and they run into each other again.

The fiftysomething woman had no idea who she was, to Goulding’s relief. As an heiress to a billion dollar company he father began in the 70s, she had access to whatever she wanted. Some of the access had led to her current health problems. She had danced on tables in her teens and experimented with multiple drugs. However, an almost fatal fall on the steps had caused her to turn her life around.

She had fallen in love with a working class man. He had helped her in the shop while she struggled walking down the aisles. Noticing the couture, he had remarked that she seemed to be away from home. She nodded yes. It was a four hour drive. However, she valued the peace the drive gave her.

His family and friends broke them up. They had poisoned on him on tabloid rumors found on unknown websites and convinced him to leave her. His family threatened to disown him, stating her life represented greed and corruption at all costs. She couldn’t even defend herself to them and there was no other choice but to let him go.
