Video Review: Jhené Aiko, Future & Miguel “Happiness Over Everything (H.O.E.)”

Some firebreathers dance in a backyard of Jhené Aiko’s home. Aiko holds her plastic cup and dances while Future stands next to her on the patio. A young man deals cards at a long table. Miguel and Aiko stand on the bridge.

She closes her eyes as Miguel sings. Her friends dance in place as they watch him. Future sits at the table and plays the card game. Two young woman clink their plastic cups together. She whispers into a young man’s ear. She leans against her bathroom wall.

Shes sits on the couch to talk with a second young man. Her friends form a conga line and dance in the kitchen. She and her friends listen to her sister, Mila J perform in the family room. A third young man leans in to kiss a third young woman on the couch. They run off.

Future plays Jenga with some of her friends on the picnic table. Several dancers perform. Aiko joins them as they perform. She hangs out in her family room with her friends.

Jhené Aiko puts some chips in some bowls and asks any of her friends if they need anything. Future asks her to sit down with them and play Jenga. She walks by his chair and says she’d love to but she’s helping her sister set up. One of her friends turn her head and says Mila J’s going to sing. She responds that she had written new material and wants some feedback. But, she tells her friend, it won’t be for another hour or so.

Aiko plugs in the amplifier and checks to see if everything is in place. Mila puts her hand on her sister’s shoulders and tells her to relax. Aiko says she just wants everything to go right. Mila J tells she’s got a handle on it and to talk to her friends.

Aiko sits on the couch with the second young man and talks to him. He says it’s really fun party and thanks for inviting him. She says she’s so tired. She’s been preparing all the day for the party and has been running around ever since. He offers to stay and clean up with her. She lets out a sigh of relief. Her sister waves to her. She says she’ll be right back. Her sister asks her about her set list. Aiko tells her deftinely the first three songs but the last one seemed to be unfinished. Mila J says she wasn’t sure about the last one, either and says she’ll perform one of her other songs. Aiko says she’ll tell everyone to come into the family room.
