Video Review: Dua Lipa & DaBaby “Levitating”

Dua Lipa sits on the hood of her car and watches a star shine in the night sky. Lit scarlet red, a group of people clap. Her necklace lifts off her neck. Wearing an Atelier Versace dress, she stands and walks into a portal of white light.

She and several young women dance in a gold-trimmed elevator. One of the young women sees they have reached DaBaby’s floor. The second young woman swipe on the door. It opens and DaBaby walks inside. Lipa blows a kiss as the lights flash. She puts her arm around DaBaby. They dance.

The elevator has reached “Roller World.” Several young women roller skate within the elevator while DaBaby, wearing Louis Vuitton, and Lipa continue to dance. Cherry red light shines on Lipa as she leans over in the elevator.

At the Final Stop, the young woman swipes to “release” as Lipa claps. DaBaby is ejected into space and flies near the moon. In an ombre silhouette, several people within in a ring around a planet. Wearing a Mugler dress and gloves, she dances on a platform in the center.

An attendant calls out the planet will be closing soon. Dua Lipa puts on her high heels and grabs her purse. She takes her glass of wine and says it was “nice meeting you” to a young man. She walks to the elevator. While inside, a young woman comments that the new DJ did a great set. Lipa says it was her first time and she had fun. The young woman says they never know where they’ll land. It’s a surprise every time.

Lipa rolls her out garbage can and stands at the curb. The portal arrived around the same time last weekend. She sits on her driveway and gazes at the sky. At about 3 a.m., she decides to go to bed. She walks inside her home and glances over her shoulder, just in case it appeared.

She hooks the chain of the necklace around her neck and brushes off her dress. Her friends were expecting her in about 10 minutes. However, it had taken her longer to figure out what to wear. She texts her friends that she’s on her way. As she walks on her driveway, the portal appears. While she types out that she won’t be there, the phone disappears from her hand. She walks into the portal. The young woman waves at her and smiles at her. Lipa asks her how long she’s been in the elevator. The young woman says she never left and says they’ll be rooming together in the hotel room. Lipa says she doesn’t have anything. The young woman says her things are beamed up to the room.
