Video Review: Billie Eilish “Male Fantasy”

Lit in teal, Billie Eilish stare into the bathroom mirror. She looks at the sink and sits up in her bed. Later, she lies down. She sits in her chair. Leaning about the counter in the kitchen, she stares at the tiles on the floor and sits by the cabinets. She eats at the dinner table.

Standing at the microwave, she stares at the plate as it turns inside. She opens the refrigerator and touches some containers. She paces in the kitchen and family room. She looks out the window and returns back to her bedroom.

Rating: 1.5/5

Billie Eilish can’t even look at herself. She isn’t anyone’s ideal. Sometimes she’s not even her own. She has no desire to kiss anyone. Even if it was just a peck or a casual make-out session. It was what she probably needed. It would make her feel wanted again.

She opens a box of cereal and eats it. It was the only thing she felt like eating. A cookbook lies on the table and she tosses it in the garbage. Why she should be bother? It was difficult meal after meal, she’d burn for her boyfriend. But there’d no be laughter and a quick order of pizza. It was just her. It’ll always be her.

On the next street, she sees a thirtysomething man throw a baseball to his 8-year-old son. It was idyllic. The thirtysomething man will probably take him to get ice cream afterwards. She was going to be on her own, childless, talking to her married work boyfriend, wishing she had met him first.
